Hey everyone,
Sorry its been a while! School has started back up and everything that comes with it so I kind of lost track of everything. Since last time nothing too crazy has happened. I’ve been at school for a few weeks now and everything is going real good so far. Classes are pretty interesting so far-I’m taking a few business classes then a psychology class and a music class and I think I’m going to do well in them.
So onto the interesting stuff. Pre-season basketball has started and we are really excited about the team again this year. We lost 1 senior in Tyler Nading last year who was a huge leader and an awesome player/guy but we still have many pieces to the puzzle and although its definitely going to be a different team, I think we are going to have a successful year again. Our freshmen look real good and with our conditioning, weight training, and open gyms, its looking like a real good group of guys again this year. We will be working hard until October 15th when the season begins and another journey starts.
One real cool thing thats happening this year is the whole basketball team is able to live together in a former fraternity house. The fraternity can’t live in the house this year and we (the basketball team) have a real good relationship with the faculty here so we were able to create what they call a “block” here which allows us all to live together. It is probably 12 guys from the basketball team and 10 other friends so its a real good deal. We get some money for activities and we get to participate in charity events and other things like that so its a really cool system.
So far we have had a salsa lessons night where we all dressed up and invited dates and it was probably one of the most fun nights I’ve had here. We just danced the night away-there’s a picture to go with it! We are looking into some other events like working with habitat for humanity and a program for St. Louis area youth where we help tutor them and teach them fundamentals of sports.
Lots of good things coming up here at Wash U and I’ll definitely keep you updated,
Many blessings,
Dylan Richter
