Kevin Durant on the lockout – “I’m 50/50 on what I’m what I’m going to do”

Kevin Durant addressed the media Thursday at the Tulsa Shock game

Thursday night, Kevin Durant was in Oklahoma to take in some basketball. While the NBA lockout is – of course – everpresent, the lockout basketball he partook in was up the turnpike in Tulsa. You see, KD was a courtside visitor to the WNBA’s Tulsa Shock and Chicago Sky game.

At halftime, Durant took some time to talk to the media about his love of the game that brought him to watch his female counterparts on the hardwood. He also stopped to dish about the lockout before he settled into his seat for some nachos at the midpoint break of the game he watched wire to wire.

“No doubt, no doubt. It’s a tough situation,” Durant said of the current status of the NBA. “I want to play, every NBA player wants to play in the regular scheduled time so we’ll see what happens … I think right now it really hasn’t hit all the players yet that we’re having a lockout right now, but once September hits that’s when we’re really going to start to know, feel the effects of the lockout.”

As has been the news story of late, Durant also addressed his potential of playing overseas should the need arise. He echoed the previous reports of being on the fence 50/50 right now.

“I’ve got to think about it, of course,” Durant remarked. “I’m about 50/50 right now with what I’m going to do, but we have to wait and see how this lockout goes and hopefully we’ll get back to playing our scheduled time. But if not I’ve got to make some decisions.”

In the meantime, KD is not sitting at home eating popcorn on his couch or taking more pictures with pandas, he’s working out to get ready for the season, wherever and whenever that may be.

“Just everything,” Durant said of his focus this off-season. “My mid-range game, trying to make that a little better, tighter. Ball handling, posting up, just about everything. Watching film is always something I do in the summer time and I think that’s going to help me as well. You’ve just got to keep improving.”

Now only time will tell if his improvements will be seen in Oklahoma City or elsewhere for the 2011 season.
