Throughout the 2009-10 school year, I began to hone my skills in a volunteer capacity at Oklahoma City University – taking pictures, learning how to take stats, even writing a couple of press releases. The time I spent last year seeing just what goes on in order to make an athletic department run from the media perspective led me to persue a path toward a career in sports information. My hard work has paid off, as I am currently in the position of Assistant Sports Information Director at the very school I volunteered for – OCU. And here is my bio!
Jessica Lantz will aid in promotion of Oklahoma City University’s 21 varsity intercollegiate athletic programs as the newest addition to the sports information staff.
Lantz has been working toward this new opportunity by freelance writing for The Oklahoman and various online publications as well as developing, implementing and maintaining her own regional sports web site, freelantzsports.com.
She has provided coverage of a multitude of sporting events at various levels including the 2010 WNBA Draft, 2010 East-West Shrine Game, Tulsa Shock, 2010 American Collegiate Rowing Association Championships, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma City University athletics, 2009 Armed Forces Bowl and the 2009 Elite 11 Quarterback Camp, among others.
Lantz earned her sociology degree from Oklahoma State University in 2000. She graduated from Putnam City North High School in Oklahoma City.
